'For Sale by Owner' signs prime target for vandals Print E-mail
Thursday, 13 April 2006
Home sellers in the Portland area have reported that their "For Sale By Owner" sign are becoming a weekly target of vandalism.

These signs that direct potential buyers to their homes are being slashed and damaged beyond recognition at times.

Cami Nguyen, a prospective seller, has had her signs slashed three weeks in a row. "Fortunately, I have an unlimited sign program at the For Sale By Owner Store so I can keep replacing them for free," Nguyen said. However the unlimited sign program does not apply to everyone. For Sale By Owner sellers do all the hard work when selling their homes.  From handling the paperwork, advertising, showings, to other related activities involved in selling real estate.  Not to mention the hassle of posting these signs in their yard and on street corners in order to attract potential buyers and help locate their homes which are up for sale.

This strategy allows sellers to save up to 6 or 7 % of the sale price normally paid in commissions for a listing and/or selling real estate agent.
