NIS 150m in bond placement were raised by Electra Real Estate

Electra Real Estate Ltd. has approved the raising of up to NIS 200 million via a bond placement among financial institutions. It plans to initially raise NIS 150 million, but could raise the offering to NIS 200 million if demand is heavy.

Electra Real Estate will expand its issue of Series B bonds first issued in August 2005, when the company went public.

Realtors expect home prices to fall

WASHINGTON -- The National Association of Realtors announced that US home prices will fall temporarily as the housing market correct. 

Prices should bounce higher in a few months as the market works through a build in housing inventory.
Median existing-home sales prices should rise about 2.8% this year and 2.2% next year, the realtors said in their monthly economic outlook. Median new-home prices are expected to rise 0.2% in 2006 and 2.4% in 2007.

Mortgage repayment plans get careful

Minister of Finance, Michael Cullen, has announced that savers will be able to divert half of their KiwiSaver contributions to mortgage repayments. This is one of several proposed changes announced to the controversial scheme, whose implementation has been delayed by three months, from April next year to 1 July.

Real investment fund allowed

NEW DELHI: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has cleared an investment by HDFC's global real estate fund to invest up to Rs. 3,240 crore in the country. The Mauritius-registered India Offshore Real Estate Investments (IOREI), which is sponsored by HDFC, has been allowed to invest this amount, raised overseas, in units issued by HDFC's International Real Estate Fund (IREF).

Penalties increase to break on mortgage fraud

Ontario announced plans to increase mortgage fraud penalties and urged Ottawa to amend the federal criminal code to protect homeowners.

The Liberal government is tabling legislation this fall that raises the maximum penalty for real estate fraud convictions from $1,000 to $50,000, said Government Services Minister Gerry Phillips. He said that the province is also seeking the creation of a national database of real estate fraud cases and urged Ottawa to re-classify the fraud as a separate offence under the federal Criminal Code.

No hiss for real estate market in Vancouver

Average Greater Vancouver real estate prices climbed again in August, but the hot housing market softened slightly further east in the Fraser Valley.

The gains were led by single family house prices in Vancouver, the North Shore and areas such as Port Moody, where a benchmark home sold for about $620,000 in August, up from $572,000 in July.
