County commissioners are calling for cuts to 2007's proposed $1.1 billion budget. This is despite receiving the news that Sarasota County is anticipating a 24 percent increase in the value of its property tax base by 2007.

Grammy Winner Rick Derringer Also in the Real Estate Business

The musician and singer is a sales agent for Sarasota's McKenna and Associates Realty. Rick Derringer was just 17 when his band The McCoys recorded the No. 1 hit "Hang On Sloopy" in the summer of 1965. Weeks later, the boys from Liverpool nudged out Derringer with the classic "Yesterday."

According to Jenny Goodman of Signature GMAC Real Estate, Miriada, a 260-unit garden-style condominium community located on Dixie Belle Drive just south of Curry Ford Road in southeast Orlando, has topped the $27 million sales mark with 150 of the residential units sold. Signature is handling the sales and marketing of the 12-year community formerly called Royal Palms Apartments.
